***Tell us what style you work in?
my favorite style to tattoo is for sure Japanese, i love the aesthetic and symbolism behind it, but i enjoy doing traditional tattoos and also any other style which i am able to do properly
***How long has the shop been there and how did you become part of it?
Rose and Dagger is in bratislava for more than 5 years now, before it was based in prievidza but was later moved here. I was trying to find someone who did proper traditional tattoos in bratislava because nobody did them at the shop where i was apprenticing and that is how i stumbled upon robert the shop owner, guys at the shop hosted a flash day so i went to take a look and get tattooed, i brought some flash as a gift we talked a bit and our friendship started to form up. I was visiting guys at r&d more regularly and we also went to see true blue convention together twice, after a while robert asked me if i would want to work with them and i said yes (after weeks of overthinking :D)
***Do you have a vibrant traditional tattoo scene in Bratislava?
I dont believe there is a scene in bratislava because there are not that many tattooers specializing in traditional styles. I think rose and dagger is the only real traditional shop in not only bratislava but the whole slovakia. most of the tattooshops in slovakia specialize in more modern styles
***How do you see the importance of traditional tattooing, and what do you think is important to help push forward to the next generation?
Traditional tattooing in my opinion is the only way of tattooing that has a soul and real purpose beacuse by doing traditional tattooing the proper way, one carries on and becomes a part of the tattooing tradition and it is important to educate new people who get into getting tattooed so that the tradition continues, most of the people and tattooers dont realize that withou traditional tattooing, there would be no tattooing as we know it today
***What do you wish everyone knew about tattoos or tattooing?
I wish everyone would know that tattoos are not just pictures in the skin and people definetly shouldnt get a certain tattoo that wont stand the test of time just because its cool right now. People should rather go for the styles which are time tested and well known for their durability, such as japanese, traditional or tribal.
