Beau Brady - June 9, 2026
Beau Brady is an American Tattooer who works at the famous Port City Tattoo in Costa Mesa , California. We are incredibly proud that he chose to sit in with us next month! We are all looking forward to getting a chance to watch him work !
How did you get your start in tattooing?
I grew up going to punk and hardcore shows in the 90s and saw a lot of people the I related to, covered in tattoos. I always loved the look and knew I wanted them. I had older friends who had me draw their tattoos for them and one day, a friend said; “you should be a tattoo artist”
And it just clicked. This is what I wanted to do. I started hassling my future mentor, Ed Slocum to teach me. Which after about a year he finally broke down.
You’re doing killer traditional work as well as Japanese. Did you always focus on that?
I’ve always loved classic styles of tattooing. So traditional and Japanese were the easy connection for me. Japanese mastery has always been my biggest personal goal. Which I feel like is a lifelong journey.
Tell us about some of your favorite travel destinations for tattooing.
Oh man. So many. New York, London, Tokyo, Chicago, Aachen Germany, Charlotte.
They all bring something different and unique.
What are the the differences you see between tattoo scéne in US versus Europe.
I always feel like there’s still a huge level of wonder and excitement around tattooing in Europe. Especially for the common person. It still might be a little odd or scary for your regular person on the street. But for collectors I think Europe is a hub for some of the best tattooers period.
I hear you’re involved in the straight edge scene. Is that a big part of your life?
I’ve been straight edge for 27 years. It’s definitely a huge part of my life but it’s also just my normal day at this point.
I don’t go to shows much these days, but I still love the music and the message behind it.
Has music played a big roll in your life?
Absolutely. Punk and hardcore gave me a great place to grow up and explore the world around me.
Where else are you going on this visit to Europe?
I’ll be in Wiesbaden Germany and Limerick Ireland at Allstar Tattoo.
I can’t wait to be back!
